Yamaha U3 upright piano in Gloss black - The flagship upright

We are proud to offer this stunning Yamaha U3 upright piano. The flagship upright piano of the last 50 years. Most people will tell you that this is pretty much the perfect upright piano with its long bass strings allowing an effortless bass and clear sparkling treble. This 1976 model was built in what we would consider one of the best eras of Japanese piano making. It just oozes quality. Solidly built and in fantastic condition. You will not be disappointed with this piano. This U3 has also benefits from having a soft close lid.

This particular U3 has been voiced for a more mellow tone and the only word I can think to describe it is rich. Rather than an overwhelming loud bass it’s a warm, powerful and more rounded bass with a real depth to it. The treble isn’t too sharp and it can trill without the sharp sound you sometimes get on cheaper pianos. I think at the moment this is one of my favourites to play in the showroom. Absolutely effortless and classy. I would be more than happy to demonstrate this piano at our showroom where it’s easier to show you each pianos individual strengths and weaknesses.

Unlike many sellers we are honest and open in our descriptions so as well as listing all the great things about the piano we also like to point out any stand out marks or details so you know exactly what to expect when your piano arrives. Please bear in mind that most gloss finish pianos will have very fine micro scratches in the polyester / polish from dusting and this is pretty much unavoidable. We have NEVER seen a piano without micro scratches.

This U3 is in exceptional condition. There are very few blemishes on the piano and where most pianos suffer from light scratches from photo frames on top this U3 seems to have mostly avoided this fate. The only point of note is a small line in the middle of the left keyboard block but you probably wouldn’t even know if it wasn’t pointed out. We have taken photos of the marks so you can get a 100% accurate representation of the pianos condition. How many others sellers do this!!!!!

  • WHY BUY FROM ROWLANDSON PIANOS

Here at Rowlandson pianos we pride ourselves on supplying good quality modern pianos and want the customer to be truly satisfied.  In an ever changing world we have adapted by making more information on the pianos accessible online, so you can see lots of photos and a video of the piano being played.  We actively seek to give an unbiased description of each piano we have for sale including any negative points.  Too many times have we turned up to view an 'immaculate' piano to find that it has cup stains and broken hinges etc where people's general response is "what do you expect for 20 years old".  We hate this, and I'm sure you do too so you can be sure if we say a piano is as new, it is.  If we say it has some marks around, it does.  And if we say it is not suitable for a grade 8 pianist, chances are it isn't.

One of our pet hates is people or companies selling 'refurbished' pianos.  Granted some of these may well be 'part' refurbished to a good standard, but with over 9000 parts in an upright piano, how many have really been 'refurbished' and not just had the odd felt or sticking key sorted.  You wouldn't put a new tyre on a car and then sell the car as 'refurbished' would you?  Therefore, you will not see any 'refurbished' pianos for sale at Rowlandson pianos, just good quality serviced pianos.

  • RETURN & REFUND POLICY

If you are unhappy with, or change your mind about your purchase within the first 30 days you are welcome to return it, at your cost, for a full refund as long as it arrives back at Rowlandson pianos in the same condition as it left.  Pianos are a big piece of furniture and are neither cheap or easy to move around and we suggest that we can, at your cost, collect the item or you are welcome to make your own arrangements to return it but we do advice a specialist transport company and can usually recommend someone local to yourselves.

  • DELIVERY INFO

Delivery is charged at £1 per mile using google maps from our base at WF10 3QZ.  We do this so you can quickly and easily work out the delivery charges.  We transport our own pianos but we do work with other respectable piano moving companies who cover other areas and if they can deliver the piano to you cheaper than ourselves we will happily use their services and pass on the savings to yourselves.  Collection is also welcome and we are happy to help with loading if needed but we do advise the use of a specialist piano moving company
