Yamaha U1 upright piano in Gloss black. The most popular upright piano of the last 50 years, It plays like a Yamaha U1 should with a bright sound and strong even bass. She benefits from having a brand new set of bass strings fitted to her at a cost of £750 (please note that the supposed ‘refurbished’ pianos advertised do not have new bass strings!!!!!!!!!) and also a brand new set of loops and flanges which most 70’s and 80’s Yamahas require. It has a light / medium action and has been tuned to concert pitch and regulated. It comes fully checked by our technician to ensure years of enjoyment. It has a middle practice pedal too for some midnight practice. There isn't much left to say about a Yamaha U1. Great all round pianos. Unlike many sellers we are honest and open in our descriptions so as well as listing all the great things about the piano we also like to point out any stand out marks or details so you know exactly what to expect when your piano arrives. Please bear in mind that most gloss finish pianos will have very fine micro scratches in the polyester / polish from dusting and this is pretty much unavoidable. We have NEVER seen a piano without micro scratches.
This U1 is in good condition. She isn't immaculate but certainly equal to most we have seen around and we have priced her accordingly. From 3 feet away she looks like new but on closer inspection there are a few minor blemishes to point out. We have supplied photos above of each of these and I hope you can see they in no way detract from the overall look. We are overly critical of our pianos and inspect them under high powered LED work lights so you can rest assured she will be as described. How many other sellers would do that? We would normally sell a U1 that plays and feels this good and benefiting from brand new bass strings for £3995 but have priced her at £3450 due to the minor blemishes. A great saving.

In an ever changing world we have adapted by making more information on the pianos accessible online, so you can see lots of photos and a video of the piano being played. We actively seek to give an unbiased description of each piano we have for sale including any negative points. Too many times have we turned up to view a 'immaculate' piano to find that it has cup stains and broken hinges etc where people's general response is "what do you expect for 20 years old". We hate this, and I'm sure you do too so you can be sure if we say a piano is as new, it is. If we say it has some marks around, it does. And if we say it is not suitable for a grade 8 pianist, chances are it isn't.
One of our pet hates is people or companies selling 'refurbished' pianos. Granted some of these may be part refurbished to a good standard, but with over 9000 parts in an upright piano, how many have really been 'refurbished' and not just had the odd felt or sticking key sorted. If you put a new tyre on a car you would describe the car as refurbished would you? Therefore, you will not see any 'refurbished' pianos for sale at Rowlandson pianos, just good quality serviced pianos.
RETURN & REFUND POLICY
If you are unhappy with, or change your mind about your purchase within the first 30 days you are welcome to return it, at your cost, for a full refund as long as it arrives back at Rowlandson pianos in the same condition as it left. Pianos are a big piece of furniture and are neither cheap or easy to move around and we suggest that we can, at your cost, collect the item or you are welcome to make your own arrangements to return it but we do advice a specialist transport company and can usually recommend someone local to yourselves.
DELIVERY INFO
Delivery is charged at £1 per mile using google maps from our base at WF10 3QZ. We do this so you can quickly and easily work out the delivery charges. We transport our own pianos but we do work with other respectable piano moving companies who cover other areas and if they can deliver the piano to you cheaper than ourselves we will happily use their services and pass on the savings to yourselves. Collection is also welcome and we are happy to help with loading if needed but we do advise the use of a specialist piano moving company
