Weber 1924 fully restored red mahogany baby grand piano

Weber 1924 fully restored red mahogany baby grand piano

REDUCED FROM £6750 to £2995 due to some cosmetic defects.

Here is something VERY VERY VERY special. Not only a great instrument but an adorable and stunning piece of furniture. The Weber pianos of this era were held in high regard with regular comparisons to Steinway and Bechstein pianos.

THE PHOTOS DO NOT DO THIS PIANO JUSTICE

A fully rebuilt and restored 1924 Weber baby grand piano in deep gloss red mahogany in fantastic condition. It is rare to find older pianos rebuilt to this standard as the cost can easily go into the £20,000 + range. Do not confuse this with most 'restored' pianos of this age that have only had remedial work carried out like a new set of hammers or new key bushings etc, this is an exceptional and FULL rebuild including removing the harp !!!!

The piano was fully stripped down and the following works were carried out in the early 2000's at renowned piano restorers Titterington and Peck

harp removed and re painted

soundboard restored and refinished

new bridges made

new wrest plank

new tuning pins

full re string

action fully rebuilt with all new felts and leathers

new hammers and shanks

new dampers

new key bushings and replacement Ivorite key tops

The casework was then professionally stripped and refinished in a modern high gloss polyester coating (like you get on modern black pianos ) and not just a French polished finish. The depth of the finish is simply breathtaking and the lighting in our showroom does not do her justice, the finish is sublime. She is a very deep red mahogany and possibly the richest colour piano we have ever had in stock. She has her original pedal lyre and gated legs and is in fantastic condition. You can tell the quality and level of detail with this rebuild with the stool. A modern adjustable stool was used to allow more comfortable playing but was painstakingly customised with the leg skirtings to match the piano and then refinished in the same colour and grain. Also the inlaid name board was kept and in certain lights you can see the square around it where the original finish has been professionally blended with the new finish. Can you tell we love her 🥰🥰🥰.

Because the action has been fully rebuilt she plays very well. With a compact piano of this size you don't get earth shattering bass but you do get a nice warm sound from the lower registers. The mid section is quite bright for a piano of this vintge with an exceptionally clear tone. We think she plays better than any other baby grand we have had in, especially the likes of a Yamaha GB1 or Kawai GL10.

Unlike many sellers we are honest and open in our descriptions so as well as listing all the great things about the piano we also like to point out any stand out marks or details so you know exactly what to expect when your piano arrives. Please bear in mind that most gloss finish pianos will have very fine micro scratches in the polyester / polish from dusting and this is pretty much unavoidable. We have NEVER seen a piano without micro scratches.

She is in good overall condition but there are a few  areas of damage on the polyester coating which we have highlighted in the pictures.  The worst one is on the left hand lid hinge where some of the polyester has come away due to stress on the lid during moving.  There is the tiniest bit of sun fade on the main lid edge about 2mm wide on the right edge (highest point when the lid is up). She was painstakingly hidden away from direct light with her previous owners using blinds but when the lid was up it caught the sun just above the blind. There are just a couple of points of bleed just under the polyester coating. One behind the lid hinge, one on the pedal lyre leg and on the legs.  This has been caused by moving the piano without the correct support .  There is a 3mm touch up on the keyboard lid. This can't be seen when the lid is up. There is a small area of polyester micro crack on the rear of the piano just above the rear leg. We have photographed these for you but they really don't detract too much from this awesome instrument.

Hopefully the photos show everything but if you want high resolution photos or to come and view and play her please get in touch. We are overly critical of our pianos and don't just generalise things like 'wear and tear' and 'for its age'!!!

Please feel free to book an appointment to come and view and play our pianos at our showroom

  • WHY BUY FROM ROWLANDSON PIANOS

Here at Rowlandson pianos we pride ourselves on supplying good quality modern pianos and want the customer to be truly satisfied.  In an ever changing world we have adapted by making more information on the pianos accessible online, so you can see lots of photos and a video of the piano being played.  We actively seek to give an unbiased description of each piano we have for sale including any negative points.  Too many times have we turned up to view an 'immaculate' piano to find that it has cup stains and broken hinges etc where people's general response is "what do you expect for 20 years old".  We hate this, and I'm sure you do too so you can be sure if we say a piano is as new, it is.  If we say it has some marks around, it does.  And if we say it is not suitable for a grade 8 pianist, chances are it isn't.

One of our pet hates is people or companies selling 'refurbished' pianos.  Granted some of these may well be 'part' refurbished to a good standard, but with over 9000 parts in an upright piano, how many have really been 'refurbished' and not just had the odd felt or sticking key sorted.  You wouldn't put a new tyre on a car and then sell the car as 'refurbished' would you?  Therefore, you will not see any 'refurbished' pianos for sale at Rowlandson pianos, just good quality serviced pianos.

  • RETURN & REFUND POLICY

If you are unhappy with, or change your mind about your purchase within the first 30 days you are welcome to return it, at your cost, for a full refund as long as it arrives back at Rowlandson pianos in the same condition as it left.  Pianos are a big piece of furniture and are neither cheap or easy to move around and we suggest that we can, at your cost, collect the item or you are welcome to make your own arrangements to return it but we do advice a specialist transport company and can usually recommend someone local to yourselves.

  • DELIVERY INFO

Delivery is charged at £1 per mile using google maps from our base at WF10 3QZ.  We do this so you can quickly and easily work out the delivery charges.  We transport our own pianos but we do work with other respectable piano moving companies who cover other areas and if they can deliver the piano to you cheaper than ourselves we will happily use their services and pass on the savings to yourselves.  Collection is also welcome and we are happy to help with loading if needed but we do advise the use of a specialist piano moving company
