Kawai CX-5H gloss black upright piano
Japanese Kawai CX-5H in gloss black. Classic Kawai quality and plays well. Middle practice pedal for quieter midnight practice. The action is medium to heavy and this piano would suit anyone from beginner to intermediate . It sits in the middle of the kawai range and is quite bright for a Kawai, sounding more like a Yamaha. Some of the bass strings have a slight zing to them which is common in used pianos. Rather than replace these we have massively reduced the price of the piano to make it more affordable and if wanted the strings could be replaced at a later date. Most people wouldn’t even recognise they had a slight zing but we play lots of pianos and it makes it easier to highlight the pros and cons of each one.
We can change these for a cost of £700 for a full new set of bass strings but we honestly don’t think it would be worth it. Have a listen to the video at the end of the gallery and I bet she still sounds amazing 🤩

Unlike many sellers we are honest and open in our descriptions so as well as listing all the great things about the piano we also like to point out any stand out marks or details so you know exactly what to expect when your piano arrives.Please bear in mind that most gloss finish pianos will have very fine micro scratches in the polyester / polish from dusting and this is pretty much unavoidable. We have NEVER seen a piano without micro scratches.
This particular piano is in fantastic condition throughout. The only thing of note is a small touch up repair on the very back edge of the piano about halfway up on both sides. This would not be seen against a wall and was caused when the previous owner pushed it against the dado rail in their living room. We have attached a photo which captures the mark as best as is possible but it is not very noticble and we doubt you would have found it looking around the piano.

We actively seek to give an unbiased description of each piano we have for sale including any negative points. Too many times have we turned up to view an 'immaculate' piano to find that it has cup stains and broken hinges etc where people's general response is "what do you expect for 20 years old". We hate this, and I'm sure you do too so you can be sure if we say a piano is as new, it is. If we say it has some marks around, it does. And if we say it is not suitable for a grade 8 pianist, chances are it isn't.
One of our pet hates is people or companies selling 'refurbished' pianos. Granted some of these may well be 'part' refurbished to a good standard, but with over 9000 parts in an upright piano, how many have really been 'refurbished' and not just had the odd felt or sticking key sorted. You wouldn't put a new tyre on a car and then sell the car as 'refurbished' would you? Therefore, you will not see any 'refurbished' pianos for sale at Rowlandson pianos, just good quality serviced pianos.
RETURN & REFUND POLICY
If you are unhappy with, or change your mind about your purchase within the first 30 days you are welcome to return it, at your cost, for a full refund as long as it arrives back at Rowlandson pianos in the same condition as it left. Pianos are a big piece of furniture and are neither cheap or easy to move around and we suggest that we can, at your cost, collect the item or you are welcome to make your own arrangements to return it but we do advice a specialist transport company and can usually recommend someone local to yourselves.
DELIVERY INFO
Delivery is charged at £1 per mile using google maps from our base at WF10 3QZ. We do this so you can quickly and easily work out the delivery charges. We transport our own pianos but we do work with other respectable piano moving companies who cover other areas and if they can deliver the piano to you cheaper than ourselves we will happily use their services and pass on the savings to yourselves. Collection is also welcome and we are happy to help with loading if needed but we do advise the use of a specialist piano moving company
