Apollo 6’ 8” grand piano black - CLEARANCE

Apollo 6’ 8” grand piano black - CLEARANCE

Here is a 6’ 8” grand piano made by the Japanese company Apollo / Toyo around 1970.  We have taken it in part exchange but unfortunately it’s not something we would normally retail so we are offering at trade price on trade terms and conditions (i.e. no returns or warranty)

She still sounds impressive and features a full Renner grand piano action that is still in good condition with plenty of life left in the felts. The action has been removed and checked over and the hammers re-faced.

She has come out of a Church environment and therefore is in poor condition cosmetically with bumps, scrapes, scratches and chips etc from use over the last 50 years.  She looks good from 10 feet away as you can see in the photos but any closer and you can see plenty of imperfections.  She does look better in the photos.

She plays pretty good for her age and we have attached a little video of her being played and hopefully you can hear the sound. (Last picture in the picture reel should be the video )

She really could do with half a set of bass strings as some are slightly unwound on the end (pictured) although this doesn’t really affect the sound at the moment.  She has had about 10 replacement bass strings in the past.  Also there is a slight gap in the soundboard.  This runs on one of the joins and is quite common on pianos of this age.  It does not affect the sound of the piano with no buzzing etc.

She would be ideal for a big room or even a performance venue or school as if she was in very good condition we would retail her at £7000 so please bear this in mind when setting your expectations.  She plays ok for a beginner /  intermediate pianist but she does need TLC and money spent on her to make her 100%.  Due to her size she creates a big sound and the bass is still impressive, even in her current condition.

You are more than welcome to come and view / play her at our showroom.

Delivery is free within 30 miles and only £2 per mile thereafter one way.

  • WHY BUY FROM ROWLANDSON PIANOS

Here at Rowlandson pianos we pride ourselves on supplying good quality modern pianos and want the customer to be truly satisfied.  In an ever changing world we have adapted by making more information on the pianos accessible online, so you can see lots of photos and a video of the piano being played.  We actively seek to give an unbiased description of each piano we have for sale including any negative points.  Too many times have we turned up to view an 'immaculate' piano to find that it has cup stains and broken hinges etc where people's general response is "what do you expect for 20 years old".  We hate this, and I'm sure you do too so you can be sure if we say a piano is as new, it is.  If we say it has some marks around, it does.  And if we say it is not suitable for a grade 8 pianist, chances are it isn't.

One of our pet hates is people or companies selling 'refurbished' pianos.  Granted some of these may be part refurbished to a good standard, but with over 9000 parts in an upright piano, how many have really been 'refurbished' and not just had the odd felt or sticking key sorted.   If you put a new tyre on a car you wouldn't say the car had been refurbished would you?   Therefore, you will not see any 'refurbished' pianos for sale at Rowlandson pianos, just good quality serviced pianos.

  • RETURN & REFUND POLICY

If you are unhappy with, or change your mind about your purchase within the first 30 days you are welcome to return it, at your cost, for a full refund as long as it arrives back at Rowlandson pianos in the same condition as it left.  Pianos are a big piece of furniture and are neither cheap or easy to move around and we suggest that we can, at your cost, collect the item or you are welcome to make your own arrangements to return it but we do advice a specialist transport company and can usually recommend someone local to yourselves.

  • DELIVERY INFO

Delivery is charged at £1 per mile using google maps from our base at WF10 3QZ.  We do this so you can quickly and easily work out the delivery charges.  We transport our own pianos but we do work with other respectable piano moving companies who cover other areas and if they can deliver the piano to you cheaper than ourselves we will happily use their services and pass on the savings to yourselves.  Collection is also welcome and we are happy to help with loading if needed but we do advise the use of a specialist piano moving company
